- 3 pounds beef chuck roast
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 cup dry red wine
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
