Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, removing any wax.
  2. Insert sticks into the apples.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water, and cook over medium heat until the mixture boils.
  4. Once boiling, stop stirring and let it cook until it reaches the hard crack stage (about 300°F).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and food coloring, if using.
  6. Dip each apple in the candy mixture, turning to coat, then place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Let the apples cool completely before serving.
