Patty Melts with Secret Sauce

A delicious twist on the classic patty melt, this recipe features a secret sauce that elevates the flavors of the sandwich.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 slices rye bread
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup caramelized onions
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce to make the secret sauce.
  2. Form ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4 minutes on each side or until desired doneness.
  4. Meanwhile, butter one side of each slice of rye bread.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, place cheddar cheese on top of each and allow to melt.
  6. Assemble the sandwiches by spreading secret sauce on the unbuttered side of the bread, adding the patties, caramelized onions, and placing another slice of bread on top.
  7. Grill the sandwiches in the skillet until golden brown on both sides.
